I Hear Music

Many of you have been commenting on hearing music while visiting my site.

Quite some time ago I began adding music to most of my pages. These are primarily some of my favorite RagTime tunes, Scott Joplin plus many other composers, even got some Ray Charles.

These songs are all in "Midi" format and play automatically in both MS Explorer and Netscape, and are repeated endlessly in both. If you wish to turn the music off, there will be a "play/pause/stop" button array somewhere on the page. For example, on this page it is just above the "Table of Contents" (just below the box where you clicked to come here). In most pages, the controls are at the top of the page. Once you turn the music off with the stop button, if you restart the music with the play button, it will only play one time (no more endless loop) and stop. The endless play feature will begin once you return again to the page. If you like these songs, please feel free to download them and play them at your leisure.

If you get a message saying you can't play a midi file, or you are sent to a site to download a midi player plug-in for your browser, or some other error message, it means your computer can't play midi music. If the cure is to download a midi player plug-in, I would recommend that course of action. It's nice to have and doesn't take long to download and install.

In some cases, it may be as simple as turning a switch in your audio system. If you have an older computer or are low on memory or hard drive space, you may not be able to play the music at all.

In any case, just click to turn off any error messages and continue to browse away on my site. Your computer will not be harmed in any way. You just won't have music that's all.

Let me know what you think about this addition. Also if you have any other questions, please ask.
