All dubbing will be on a custom basis directly from Our Masters. That is to say, you only get the programs you want and ask for.

How Do I know which programs I may order and where do I find them?

Go to Vintage Radio Logs, and click on the series you want. A log of all programs in that series will be displayed. Any program is available for purchase providing it has a "Catalog" or "Location" number listed. Those with no Catalog or Location numbers are not available. A number of "111" indicates that the show is in my collection, but not yet assigned a location number. There may be a long delay in filling orders for this category as it often means that the programs are in storage and I must retreve them from my warehouse.

    1. Simply click here and type in the location number as listed in the logs to the left of the title. If you wish to include any other information, that's great (such as series, title, date, etc.) ... the more the better. If the location number is "111", please give the series and episode number, date or title.
    2. A simple way to include all of the information is to highlight the program(s) information you want, copy it and paste it to the e-letter.
    3. If you are ordering a complete series, you don't need to give anything but the series title. If ordering several episodes from a single series, only the series title and episode numbers are necessary.
    4. Please include your name, mailing address and phone number.
    5. Please indicate the format you wish (CD, cassette, etc.)
    6. If you have already computed the complete cost, include that figure. I will confirm your numbers.

Most of you are aware of the squealing problem which has developed in Ampex 456 tape over the years.

These were excellent quality tapes with a very "hot" high end, which made it ideal for the hobbyist on a budget. For the first time, a radio program could be recorded at 3 3/4 ips with virtually no loss in high frequency response. Being such an excellent tape, it was sold to most of the other tape manufacturers (under different names of course).

Ampex qualified the primary 456 tape and those runs that didn't meet spec were sliced and sold as progressively decreasing quality tapes. The inner cuts ended up as 406. The outer cuts as 291, Strand, and a variety of Scotch numbers. They are readily identifiable by their characteristic brown color tape with black back-coating. They are all 1.5 mil tapes.

I Have developed an electro-chemical process over the last four years that appears to completely "fix" the problem. Unlike other processes, the high-frequency response is restored. Tapes I have repaired two years ago are still in fine shape today.

I charge $6.00 per tape for the repair plus $4.50 shipping/handling. The shipping charge is the same for each 10 tapes repaired (i.e. if you send 10 tapes the total charge would be $64.50.

If you wish me to transfer the tapes for you, add $2.00 per tape for transfer onto a Reel/Reel tape of the same length supplied by you. I can supply the tapes if you wish. contact me for those prices, and for transfer to cassette, DAT, or video tape.

This service can get pretty expensive, so you will probably only want to use it for those programs you really want to improve badly.

I use a mixture of digital Computer and analog tools to restore the audio. I can completely eliminate tape hiss and constant hum or buzz, in the program, with no degradation in program quality. By doing this, the high frequencies can be boosted significantly. Pops and clicks can also be reduced or completely eliminated, however too much of this may create annoying gaps or cuts in words.
There is too much more that I can do to put here but if interested contact me.

I charge $25.00 per hour for this service with a $25.00 minimum.
